YAY! I thought June 28 would never come. There are many, many sad things happening in our world right now - but today, our family is popping a bottle of champagne and celebrating for a few hours.
I hope I don’t sound repetitive, but I am deeply grateful for so many people who helped with this process.
Thank you for the EP40 and the EP+ for spending so much time talking about deeply intimate topics with a complete stranger. I am thankful that I met each and every one of you.
Thank you to Amanda Annis and Trident Media for believing in this project - and helping me turn an idea into an actual book.
Thank you to Anna deVries and St. Martin’s Press for taking a chance on this book, and making my manuscript better than I thought possible.
Thank you to the experts that generously gave of their time: Brigid Schulte, Gary Barker, Ted Bunch, Sarah Schoppe-Sullivan, Daniel Carlson, Keegan Albaugh, Livia Lam, Leslie Forde, Eve Rodsky, Brian Anderson, John Badalament and Darcy Lockman.
Thank you to my early readers and my book blurbers.
Thank you to the young women’s focus group discussions. Wow - those were nearly two years ago! But it was such an important place to start.
Thank you to my friends and family who put up with me the last few years. You all deserve a medal.
If you haven’t picked up your copy of Equal Partners yet - it is now officially out in your local bookstore (I know they have a copy, because my mom called) or your favorite online retailer.
And if anyone reading today wants to host a book group and talk about Equal Partners, I am happy to join.
We talk a lot about childcare, elder care, and self care. Well, for a long time I’ve had this idea for a blog series on caring for each other. And in honor of my book birthday, I finally wrote it! The first post of the B Team Standard went up today, and I’ll be putting up a new post every day for the next 39 days. This series is deeply personal and a wee bit hard to put out into the world. Fingers crossed you liked it!
Sharing some launch love! I have two new friends who have their own launches happening in June, and I think many of you may be interested.
My friends at Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs have a new subscription all about wellbeing for Moms. It includes quarterly care packages, delivered to your door with high-end goodies. And access to time-saving resources, tools and a private community to help you make the time for yourself, more often. Check out their special June offer and save with 1 month free. Or learn more about memberships, including gifts. I have gotten to know Leslie Forde, the Founder and CEO of Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs, over the past 18 months. Leslie is genuine, kind, and passionate about helping other moms. If there are any mom readers who are struggling and looking to connect with others, this is a wonderful place to start.
Check out The Double Shift! I recently connected with Katherine Goldstein (in person, which in itself felt like a wonderful new experience.) Katherine is an exceptional journalist, a very funny human, and the creator of The Double Shift newsletter and community. I think you all will really appreciate her fresh ideas on the intersection of mothers, work, and care. She has lots of thought provoking ideas about challenging the status quo of motherhood at home, in society and in our workplaces. Her weekly newsletter covers tons of ground on the forces that shape family life in America, from mobilizing in a post-Roe America, to getting childless men to care about care, to non-sponsored lists of things to make life in this tough world a little easier. You can sign up for Katherine's weekly newsletter here: thedoubleshift.com/newsletter. And consider joining the newly relaunched The Double Shift member community, which is a social change laboratory for moms; she's up to some really cool stuff. Learn more at thedoubleshift.com/join.
